It’s been a hot minute since I decided to sprinkle some blog editorial content into FittyKat.com, huh. My bad, friend. I was riding the waves of change here at home and decided to spend most of my time on the ‘gram sharing my day-to-day happenings. (If we’re not connected on Instagram, let’s BE! — I’m FittyKat_ on that platform.)

I wasn’t entirely sure if the blog world still appreciated my rant-like musings.

After pondering on whether or not to blog again, I just decided to DO IT. This is my space. This is my HOUSE I’ve built over the course of the last decade or so. So, here I am … no sense being made at all.

Let’s be friends on the ‘gram, shall we?

What have I been up to?

What HAVEN’T I been up to? I’ve been traveling for work and for pleasure. I’ve gotten to make a heck of a lot of memories with my family. I’ve dived face-first into college to finish my Bachelor’s degree. I’ve taken more time to live in them moment, while adjusting boundaries to match where my attention should be focused. For that, I don’t feel guilty.

Private time on a plane is underrated.

Whenever I fly solo for a work event, I release the guilt that comes with leaving my kiddo. At first, this wasn’t easy at all. There’s no doubt that I still miss her, but I do find it remarkable how much recharging takes place for me in those moments of [sort of] solitude. When I block out the noise of the plane, take a moment to be cordial to my row-mates, and settle into a book or a movie, I feel content. There are so many moments where mothers feel pulled in so many directions that their arms may be pulled off. Kids are a blessing, but they’re a challenge nonetheless. So, when I’m invited to an event or have a workshop to present, I make the most of my alone time during travel.

Studious Kat

It only took twenty years for me to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have to admit, I’m glad I finally figured it out. Why in the world did I get my two-year degree in Graphic Design? Because I was a confused sort-of-child, for Pete’s sake. After being in the fitness industry now for over a decade, I know this is where I am meant to be. I know that acquiring more skills within this field is my way to expand my career and be a catalyst in the lives of others on a higher level. I entered the Exercise Science – Kinesiology program at California University of Pennsylvania this January. I’m able to earn my degree ALL online while being on mom duty, traveling for work, working from home, and manage my own time. I did well in class when I was in college, but not it makes a heck of a lot more sense for me to manage my own time to allow for margins of craziness to ensue. So far, this overachiever is a couple of weeks from being done with her first two classes and couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Instagram trolls can F off!

I did say I decided to share most of my life on Instagram earlier in this post, didn’t I? Well, that also had some adjustments made to it. Some troll threatened me and my daughter through a bland direct message. I took it straight to Instagram who did a bang-up job of helping find the creep: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. After reporting the incident to the Internet Crimes division of the FBI online, I left it in their hands.

How would you react? It took everything in me NOT to respond.
BOGUS BULLSH** if you ask me.

I realize that I reserve the right to protect the privacy of my kiddo who can’t decide that for herself right now. So, she’s not on there much now. If someone’s in my close circle and knows us in that way, cool. If not, me limiting her exposure should be respected. It would be amazing if Instagram took as much time to protect their users as they do trying to take their money, but I digress…

Adulting, who needs it?

This blog has been an evolution of me growing as a human. It took me from weightloss story to runner to fitness coach and now to fitness educator and mom and student. I hope you’ll stay on this ride with me as I shoot to add more content to this place I’ve called home for so long. I’m also open to ANY ideas you have for what you might want to learn more about – idea, away!
